So we suggest that you put on Roland Emmerich’s seminal patriotic masterpiece, Independence Day, and pour a cold one. And line up some shots. 16) Drink whenever you see a fighter pilot scene that is directly stolen from one of the storyboards from Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope.

17) Try not to laugh when Bill Pullman gives his inspirational “Today is OUR Independence Day” speech.

18) Take a sip of liquor whenever someone holds a cigar. It doesn’t have to be lit. Just on screen.

19) Toast any character given a name who dies onscreen.

20) Now, go out and celebrate YOUR Independence Day.
