Gotta Love The Hooch: The Cutest Cinematic Canine Companions

It’s often been noted that dogs are man’s best friends. Well, based on what we’ve seen on film, dogs are also man’s cutest, friendliest and fiercest companions. If you want back up, you better be best friends with a dog.

Turner & Hooch celebrates its 25th anniversary today. Sure, the dramedy focusing on a neat freak crime scene investigator who befriends a slobbery dog isn’t the most critically acclaimed film of all time, but how can you not love Hooch? The dog destroys all that Scott Turner (Tom Hanks) thinks he holds dear, but sets him up with a vet and helps him solve a murder.

Okay, we just wanted to use this anniversary as an excuse to celebrate cute dogs on screen. Have you ever noticed that there are a lot of cute dogs in movies? There are so many! There’s also Toto, and Lassie, and Bruiser, and Benji, and the “Billy Joel dog” from Oliver & Company (whose real name is Dodger). Our point is that there are a lot of great dogs on film! So, today, we want to pay homage to Hooch and all of the cute canine companions we want to be besties with.
