Hey, I know it’s not even August, but do you know what you’re doing for Christmas? Because if Disney has their way, you’re going to be camping out in theaters for their big screen adaptation of Into the Woods. The film’s first trailer was released today and it looks like they’ve pulled out all the stops!  This trailer knows what the people want! It’s got Meryl Streep being Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp being weird, Anna Kendrick being likable and James Corden looking out of a window!

We’ve culled together ten GIFinitive moments from the trailer that fully express why you may or may not want to see Stephen Sondheim’s masterpiece adapted by the guy who made Memoirs of a Geisha. First, though, check out the trailer:

Hey, that’s weird. There was no singing in the trailer. It’s almost as though Disney wants us to think this movie isn’t a musical. Hmm… Well, what did the trailer have for us to salivate over?

We open with a cute little girl dressed like Little Red Riding Hood skipping into the woods. “Into the woods”… Get it? Also, I think she’s dressed like Little Red Riding Hood because she is Little Red Riding Hood. I’m smart like that.

Now, we meet Jack and his famed beanstalk. Did you see Jack the Giant Slayer? It was bad. The beanstalks looked dumb on the big screen. This beanstalk looks slightly less dumb, but it looks dumb, too.

Between the kid creeping on the young lovers, the tower and Rapunzel’s golden hair, this looks like the fairy tale version of what happened to Bran Stark in Game of Thrones.

Disney figured that we already know that Anna Kendrick can sing, but they wanted us to know that she can also twirl.

Meryl Streep looks pissed off that she was caught making this movie.

“Who’s the third biggest star in this movie?” “You mean, after Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt?” “Yeah. Is it Chris Pine?” “Nope.” “Anna Kendrick?” “Nadda.” “Johnny Depp???” “It’s James Corden.” “James Corden?” “James Corden. Mainstream American audiences know exactly who James Corden is.” “Is that so?” “There’s nothing tweens in Indiana love more than Gavin & Stacey.”

Chris Pine prepared for his role in Into The Woods by standing in front of a fan for two weeks straight.

Johnny Depp has gone FULL DEPP for this film and is playing a quirky hand.

Pop quiz: did Cinderella just hear the clock strike midnight or is she running away from an axe murderer?

By the way, this shot was not created with CGI. Meryl Streep is such a great actress she can turn her body into a maelstrom of smoke.
