Afternoon Delight

Afternoon Delight: ‘Blue Mountain State’

It’s late in the week and you just want to kick back and relax at your desk. There’s no harm in wanting to make your four-day week even shorter, and we’re here to help with this week’s Afternoon Delight special: Blue Mountain State.

Upset about seeing all the college kids heading back to school this week? Thinking it just isn’t fair they get to sleep in, drink without the worry of getting up for work in the morning, or, most importantly, enjoy epic college football games? You’re right, it isn’t fair, but instead of wallowing about your glory days, put on some Blue Mountain State.

The raunchy college football cult-favorite premiered on Spike and lived out three short seasons before getting canceled back in 2012. Thanks to fanatics of the faux team and a triumphant Kickstarter campaign last year, Blue Mountain State: The Movie will be directed by Broken Lizard’s Jay Chandrasekhar and released sometime in 2015.

Alex, Sammy, and Shilo want to make the most of the best days of their lives: by playing football and getting drunk and laid as much as possible. Alex (Darin Brooks), the second string quarterback, should in fact be the starting quarterback, but won’t because he’s too lazy and doesn’t want any of the responsibility that comes along with being number one. Sammy (Chris Romano), Alex’s roommate, is the college mascot who only got the job after threatening to blackmail the former mascot for jerking off on a trophy. Shilo (Sam Jones III) is the go-getter: first-string, great grades, steady girlfriend, and has a conscience — that is, until he meets Alex and Sammy.

Certain episodes are definitely NSFW, but others aren’t and they’re just as funny — if not funnier. Start with “Drug Olympics” because, for some reason, people doing drugs is more appropriate to watch at work than people having sex. Go figure! It’s only 21 minutes long and might help you unwind from the work week with s0me mindless frat fun.

[Watch on Netflix]
