Final Shots: Michael K. Williams Hopeful To Star In A Marvel Movie

They always say the grass is always greener on the other side, right? Michael K. Williams — who’s appeared in Boardwalk Empire and 12 Years a Slave since searing himself into our collective memory as Omar on The Wire — says he hopes to one day be part of the Marvel movie universe. His preferred part: The Black Panther. “I would definitely bring that quintessential New York City edge. You know, just a little bit of that grit,” he recently told Cinema Blend. Williams’ former Wire co-star, Idris Elba, on the other hand, has already appeared in two superhero films (both Thor movies), and seems to have tired of the genre, the A.V. Club points out. “Uh, I think there’s an actor already signed on for it, fortunately or unfortunately,” the Luther star said when asked about Netflix’s in-the-works Luke Cage series in a Reddit AMA over the weekend.
