The future of streaming is here! Or at least, it’s almost here. Netflix announced last night that it will stream the long-awaited sequel to Ang Lee’s masterpiece, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, on the exact same day it hits theaters: August 28, 2015. The new film, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon 2: The Green Legend, will be based on the same source material as the original. Michelle Yeoh will be reprising her role as Yu Shu-Lien, and Asian megastar Donnie Yen will play Silent Wolf. Legendary martial arts choreographer Yuen Wo-Ping will be directing.

The announcement is already causing a little bit of stress in Hollywood. There’s always been a grace period between when a movie debuts in a theater and when it arrives on streaming. If streaming platforms like Netflix continue to offer subscribers the same films as movie theaters, then the fear is that film distributers and movie theaters alike will have to adapt or die.

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon 2 is only the first movie that Netflix will be streaming on the first date of the film’s theatrical debut. Netflix has a deal with The Weinstein Company to co-produce more film titles and the two companies have been collaborating on the lavish television production, Marco Polo.

If you can’t wait until next summer to see outrageously beautiful wirework, you can always stream the original Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. It’s currently available on Netflix.
