Nicolas Cage is starring in a Left Behind movie.
Let me say that again, because it’s possible that this slipped under your pop culture radar: Academy Award winner Nicolas Cage is starring in a brand new film adaptation of the popular rapture book, Left Behind.
It’s not weird that Nicolas Cage is making a movie that involves the end of the world. Nicolas Cage is a brilliant actor who just kind of shows up in whatever film is offered to him and he attacks every role with the same kind of intensity that I approach eating a basket of cheese fries. Because of this, he’s a bit eccentric and always entertaining.
What is a bit strange is that there is already a film adaptation of Left Behind. It came out in 2000 and starred everyone’s favorite ’80s sitcom heartthrob turned Christianity spokesperson, Kirk Cameron. So, now two of the most idiosyncratic actors in Hollywood, Nicolas Cage and Kirk Cameron, have played the same part. It made us wonder how similar the two seemingly inimitable stars really are. We bet you can tell them apart in photos, but can you tell a Nicolas Cage quote apart from a Kirk Cameron quote?
We went to a seemingly reputable celebrity quotations website and took five random quotes attributed to Cameron and five attributed to Cage. We want to know who said it? Kirk Cameron or Nicolas Cage?
