We already have established that Sons of Anarchy is secretly a show for chicks, but apparently it’s also a must-see for New York Knicks fans?!? Case in point: Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony had a really weird cameo on the show last night … as a random henchman!

Melo’s scene goes a little something like this: He enters a holding cell wearing a sharp looking suit. He then goes on to scowl a little bit, uttering only one line of dialogue: “We got a call.”

Oh, and then he handed someone a knife.

So, is Melo thinking of retiring from the court and crossing over to a life as a television star? He also appeared on Nurse Jackie, so it’s entirely possible that he wants to be taken seriously as a bit part character actor on prestige cable dramas. However, Sons of Anarchy has a history of weird cameos. Just a few weeks ago, Lea Michele had a bit part as a trashy waitress and Courtney Love played a preschool teacher in last night’s episode. Yep. That Courtney Love.

Whatever the reason behind Melo’s random role, it was kind of cool and fun to see him just pop up like that. Hopefully he’s just as good in the triangle offense this season as he was playing a rando henchman.
