Take A Look At The Trailer For The First P.O.V. Action Film

Gamers and film nerds alike are going bonkers for the trailer for Hardcore, the world’s first feature-length P.O.V. sci-fi action film.

What does that mean, you ask? The entire movie is told through the protagonist’s eyes; in this case, kind of like a first-person shooter game. Well, from what we’ve seen so far, exactly like a first-person shooter: the title even sounds like a Call of Duty edition. As soon as the trailer begins, you’re completely enthralled by the battle unfolding before your eyes and there’s an immediate sense of angst. By 30 seconds in, you’re at the edge of your seat. Can you imagine two hours of this?

First-time director Ilya Naishuller snagged District 9 and Open Grave star Sharlto Copley, who has the potential to be the next big name in action films. Copley plays Jimmy, who helps a resurrected cyborg, Henry, rescue his wife and creator Estelle (Haley Bennet) from a tyrant with telekinetic powers.

An Indiegogo campaign to fund the film’s post-production and distribution began on November 3rd and has already raised close to $124,000 of its $250,000 goal with still has nearly a month left. If you contribute $25 to the campaign you get a digital download of the film and an undisclosed “perk.” But the film must be finished if there’s a trailer, right? Right. Naishuller, however, wants to maintain creative control over his baby and needs additional funding to make sure the film is edited to the highest standard. Making this film look the best it can will give it a better chance at a theatrical run, which makes sense as an action film of this caliber needs to be seen on the big screen.
