Meet Queue: Watch ‘Star Wars’ Hero John Boyega Fight Aliens In ‘Attack The Block’

By now you’ve probably seen the new teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. You’ve probably seen it a dozen times. You’ve also probably paused it, studied it, and watched it yet again to uncover hidden clues. You’ve probably done some googling to try to figure out who everyone is supposed to be. And you’re probably asking yourself things like, “Is Daisy Ridley playing Han and Leia’s daughter?,” “Is that Sith dude Adam Driver or Gwendoline Christie?,” and “Can a guy named John Boyega really be the next Luke Skywalker?”

Well, you don’t have to wait until December 18, 2015 to find out if Boyega can play an intergalactic hero because he already kicked serious alien butt in Attack The BlockUsually, we try to hook you up with five titles on streaming to get you hyped up on an up-and-coming star. While Boyega’s put in some serious turns in titles like 24: Live Another Day and Half A Yellow Sun, you’ve really got to watch Attack The Block.

Attack The Block takes the whole idea of an alien invasion and twists it. Most science fiction thrillers show us how the government gets involved in a mass alien invasion. You watch generals convene, missiles get launched, and military heroes played by Will Smith punch aliens in the face.  However, Attack The Block focuses on one small council estate in London. John Boyega plays Moses, a teenaged hoodlum who leads a gang that terrorizes and mugs his neighbors. But when aliens start destroying his home and attacking his friends, he becomes a reluctant hero. It was written and directed by Joe Cornish and executive produced by Edgar Wright (aka the guy who did Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World’s End), and it’s pretty damn cool.

Not only is Attack The Block a great film that you can watch right now on VOD, but Boyega carries it with so much strength and charisma, that you will be completely sold on him as an action hero. In fact, it should only whet your appetite to see what the kid can do when he learns how to use the Force. [Watch Attack The Block]
