Sounds like James Cameron bit off more than he could chew. Speaking at an event in New Zealand on Wednesday, the director revealed that his plan to write all three Avatar sequels at once isn’t going quite as smoothly as he expected, thus delaying the first movie until at least 2017, reports the BBC. “There’s a layer of complexity in getting the story to work as a saga across three films,” he said. Although, he didn’t speak to the progress of the other films, it doesn’t seem that far-fetched to assume that this means all three movies will be delayed. Avatar 2 was originally expected to see release in December 2016.
