The Essential Kevin Hart On Streaming

Kevin Hart is the biggest comedian in the world right now. He’s had three back-to-back number 1 movies, can sell out 50,000 seat shows, and is about to take over entertainment this weekend with his his new film, The Wedding Ringer, and his second hosting gig on Saturday Night Live.

But how well do you know the comedian? Over the last 6 years, Hart has conquered Hollywood on his own terms. He wasn’t scouted by Lorne Michaels and he didn’t start off in earnest on Comedy Central. He worked tirelessly as a stand up and appeared in pretty much any kind of comedy show that he could win his way into. He’s a hustler and as these 10 titles on streaming show, he totally deserves all the love and success (and laughs) he’s getting.

So, a quick note about stand up: comics can spend years working on material just to fill a solid half-hour. One reason why Louis CK is spoken of with such hushed reverence is that a few years ago, he began throwing out all his material yearly and starting from scratch. Hart did three hour-long specials in three years — and was acting in movies during these years. That’s crazy. Anyway, Hart released a third hour-long special in theaters as a concert documentary in 2011. So, if you missed him live, you could see him at your local cineplex.  [Watch Kevin Hart: Laugh At My Pain]

Owning the respective worlds of stand up comedy and movies wasn’t enough for Hart; he also wanted to conquer television. Hart created this satiric show that lampoons Bravo’s popular Real Housewives series. It’s a mockumentary starring Hart, Boris Kodjoe, Nelly, Duane Martin, J.B. Smoove, Nick Cannon, and Robin Thicke as fictionalized versions of themselves. It’s also incredibly funny. [Watch The Real Husbands of Hollywood]
