Final Shots: Tom Hardy Forced to Drop Out of ‘Suicide Squad’

Suicide Squad hasn’t even started filming and it’s already experienced a major casting change. Tom Hardy, who was set to star as Rick Flag, a military lifer who works alongside the team of super villains, has dropped out of the David Ayers-directed film because of scheduling conflicts, reports The Wrap. It looks like producers already have a replacement in mind to join Will Smith, Margo Robbie, and Jared Leto: None other than Jake Gyllenhaal, who already worked with the filmmaker on End of Watch. This isn’t Gyllenhaal’s first brush with a comic book franchise — he nearly replaced Tobey Maguire in Spider-Man 2.
