Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet) may be the youngest of the Girls gang, but that’s never stopped her from being the most daring (at least, as far as fashion goes) of the group. Though Lena Dunham‘s show is full of eclectic style and unique looks, nothing has been as eye-catching or head-turning as Shosh’s fearless ‘dos. We’re not recommending that you try some of these at home (I mean, who else could really pull off that crazy sock-bun-donut-thing?), but the evolution of our favorite fictional NYU grad’s mane is certainly something to admire. Though she’s rocking a cute, blunt, albeit boring bob at the start of Season Four, here are all of Shoshanna’s best (and most outlandish) hairstyles thus far.

We barely get to see Shoshanna in "Bad Friend" (because Hannah and Elijah are too busy doing coke and raging to Icona Pop), but our brief encounter with her on Jessa's stoop gifts us with this funky little twisted style. [Where to stream "Bad Friend"]Photo: HBO
Shosh dons these elegant pigtails when she painstakingly realizes that Ray is living with her (and he's homeless). [Where to stream "It's A Shame About Ray"]Photo: HBO

This happens. After Shosh finds out she's three credits short of graduating and that Marnie's slept with Ray, she pretty much loses it. This sloppy mess is, however, redeemed by her final look of Season Three. [Where to stream "Two Plane Rides"]Photo: HBO
A simple, elegant updo closes this sad season for Shoshanna at the opening of Adam's play. Our hearts ache for her when, on top of everything else, she gets rejected by Ray. Things are a bit brighter for Shosh these days, however, so it's all good. [Where to stream "Two Plane Rides"]Photo: HBO
