Stream The Super Bowl And Halftime Show On NBC’s “TV Everywhere”

NBC must have learned from the Golden Globes that cord cutters still very badly want to watch major television events (i.e. awards shows and sports championships), because this year football fans can stream the Super Bowl live.

That’s right, a live-stream of Super Bowl XLIX will be available to anyone with an internet connection on Sunday, February 1st beginning at noon. Pre-game coverage, kick-off, Katy Perry and Lenny Kravitz’s halftime show, and the winning ceremonies will be capped off with the mid-season debut of NBC’s most-watched drama, The Blacklist.

The free 11-hour stream is the network’s way of promoting their “TV Everywhere” app service, which is included with your cable subscription. In recent months, NBC Universal has been campaigning TV Everywhere as a new way to “Watch TV Without the TV,” and includes all NBCU properties from E! and Bravo to The Food Network and USA. To be clear, those without cable don’t have direct access to “Super Stream Sunday,” as they’re calling it on TV Everywhere, but similarly to how you mooch off of your friend’s mother’s HBO Go password, all you need is relative’s or friend’s cable info and you’re good to go.

Their will be commercial advertisements, but not the anticipated, “gather ’round the set” kind. All ad spots will have a digital skew aiming at a streaming-savvy digital audience, although, some televised spots are said to be thrown into the mix throughout the game.

Check out more info on NBC’s TV Everywhere app here and watch the Seattle Seahawks face off with the New England Patriots on Sunday, February 1st.
