Laverne Cox may have landed her next big role. The transgender actress has just been cast in the pilot for the new CBS legal drama, Doubt, reports Entertainment Weekly. In the series, the Orange Is the New Black star will play Cameron Wirth, a transgender Ivy League-educated lawyer the network describes as “competitive as she is compassionate. She’s fierce, funny and the fact that she’s experienced injustice first hand makes her fight all the harder for her clients.” Producers reportedly were looking for a transgender performer to play the role, and if the show is picked up Cox’s character will be the first regular transgender character to feature in a network series.
