The star of today’s Apple “Spring Forward” presentation was supposed to be the Apple Watch, but things got off to a surprising start for those fed up with their massive cable bills with the announcement that HBO Now will be launching exclusively on Apple TV this April … just in time for Game Of Thrones!

As rumored last week, HBO has partnered up with Apple in their attempt to break the bundle: Call them the Bundleslayers! HBO Now will cost subscribers $14.99/mo, with the first month free. HBO’s CEO Richard Plepler took the stage to make this historic announcement, marking the first time that a premium cable brand will deliver its brand new content to subscribers without the cable or satellite provider middlemen in the way. Make no bones about it, this is a giant development.

There is no official launch date for this service yet, but we do know this: Game Of Thrones returns on April 12. Anyone want to start a pool as to when it will actually launch?

Oh, and to get you even more interested, Apple has cut the cost of its Apple TV product from $99 to $69.
