Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

We’ve always known that Ellie Kemper was funny, but in the new Netflix comedy series, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, she is an absolute revelation. Kemper is at times looney, adorable, and sharp, but she’s always the soul of bittersweet optimism. Her incredible performance anchors the show.

We first met Ellie Kemper when she played the adorably sweet and naive Erin on The Office. She replaced Pam at the front desk, but she carved out a place all for herself in our hearts. Bridesmaids (2011)

Ellie Kemper is perhaps best known for being Becca in Bridesmaids. The film is a modern comedy classic and gave Kemper an opportunity to show off her unique ability to play characters who seem completely innocent, but who harbor a secret dark or twisted side. Her finest moment? 21 Jump Street (2012)

Ellie Kemper lived out every high school science teacher’s fantasy and worst nightmare when she played Ms. Griggs in 21 Jump Street. Why so? Well, Channing Tatum is an undercover cop posing as a student in her class. The Mindy Project (2012-2013)

Ellie Kemper is usually sugar and spice and lots of jokes about being too nice, but she showed a different side to herself when she guest-starred on The Mindy Project. Kemper plays Heather, a woman who crashes Mindy’s Christmas party because Mindy is dating her boyfriend. Heather splashes water on the floor, rips a door off a microwave, and wrestles Mindy.
