It pays to have starred in a cult TV show. Just ask Alan Tudyk and Nathan Fillion, who managed to get their new project funded in just a day thanks to IndieGoGo. The two Firefly stars were asking for $425,000 for a new three-episode comedy series called Con Man, but have raised over $550,000 in the day since their campaign went live. The show, which will be available on Vimeo On Demand, will tell the story of Wray Nerely (played by Tudyk) and Jack Moore (Fillion), two actors who starred in the cancelled-too-soon sci-fi series Spectrum. But with the show’s cancellation, and its quick attainment of cult status, the two men’s careers diverged wildly, with Moore becoming a star, while Nerely is forced to make ends meet on the sci-fi convention circuit. The series has already reached its first stretch goal, with the other two — one of which will add another episode to the show’s run — in sight.
