Back in March of 2005, Lost aired an episode that has confused viewers for the last decade. The episode, titled “Numbers,” introduced a recurring number sequence — 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, and 42 — that came up numerous times throughout the mind-bending series. The Numbers were just one of the many confusing elements of the ABC mystery.

Today, however, marks the eighth day of the fourth month of 2015 and at exactly 42 seconds after 4:23 PM, Lost fans will be able to revel in a moment of one of the show’s greatest myths (is it really an equation that determines the extinction of mankind or was Hurley messing with us all along?) — or wake up and suddenly realize we’re all just stuck purgatory. Though series co-creator Damon Lindelof has previously asserted that the numbers weren’t meant to plague our psyches after the series finale, we can’t wait any longer for the clock to strike so we can put this conspiracy to rest once and for all! (Fingers crossed we don’t go poof!) Below is a fan-made timeline of when the numbers were first revealed and when they showed up at different points in the series.
