Say No More, Mon Amour: It’s Rex Manning Day!

Today, pop culture aficionados are celebrating one of the year’s most important, albeit unofficial, holidays. Today, friends, is our Independence Day Rex Manning Day. Yup, the Rex Manning of the cult comedy Empire Records.

If you haven’t seen the Liv Tyler–Renée Zellweger fare in a few years (or, gasp, ever) and need a refresher, Rex Manning is a fictional pop sensation who’s scheduled to appear on April 8th at the independent record store Empire Records that’s struggling to stay afloat amidst a potential corporate buyout. Even though the movie initially bombed at the box office, it went on to become a cult hit, much like Rex Manning himself. Good thing the fake music video they had made for production (and the ridiculously catchy “Say No More Mon Amour”) didn’t go to waste.
