Final Shots: Are Netflix Price Increases on the Horizon?

Most days, it seems as if Netflix can do no wrong, but there might be something on coming up that won’t please the service’s nearly 65 million global subscribers. On Wednesday, it came out that the company is giving serious to consideration to offering higher-priced plans, reports the Guardian. In a webcast to investors, CEO Reed Hastings hinted that the company might stop being so tolerant of password sharing and that price increases could be on the horizon. Hastings did stress that the cost bumps aren’t going to arrive tomorrow and that the company would throw in incentives to make the change easier on subscribers. “We want to take it very slow,” Hastings said. “Over the next decade I think we’ll be able to add more content and have more value and then price that appropriately.” The news comes the same week that Netflix’s stock hit an all-time high.
