The X-Files was one of the most audacious and addictive science fiction series in television history, so, yeah, it’s kind of a big deal that Fox is bringing it back to life. While the internet has been buzzing with gossip and rumors about the new season, Fox quietly unveiled our first official look at the new episodes last night during the Wayward Pines finale.
The seventeen second teaser features ominous music, a gang of police officers, a shadowed figure dragging two bodies, and what looks to be a sinister alien probe. We get a close up of David Duchovny‘s Mulder, as he asks, “Are you ready for this, Scully?” The camera switches to Gillian Anderson as she worriedly replies, “I don’t know if there’s a choice.”
Duchovny and Anderson will be joined in the new season by newcomers like Lauren Ambrose and Robbie Amell, and old favorites like “The Lone Gunmen” are poised to return (even though they were killed in season nine). In other words: The X-Files is back, baby! Or, at least, it will be back on Fox for a limited run in January 2016.
