In case you missed it over the weekend, the Hollywood Reporter broke the news that the enigmatic comedian and original Ghostbuster Bill Murray is set to appear in Paul Feig‘s female-led Ghostbusters remake, currently due to be released in July 2016.

Though Murray scoffed at the idea for Dan Aykroyd‘s rumored Ghostbusters 3 (calling it “his nightmare”), the 64-year-old actor has apparently been won over by Feig and his all-girl Ghostbusting squad.

A few years back in an appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman, Murray explained his hesitancy to jump into another sequel because of how poorly Ghostbusters II was received compared to the original. “I told them if they killed me off in the first reel I’d do it, so now they’ve figured out a way to kill me, but it’s crazy talk,” the actor told the host. Fast forward three years and cue Paul Feig’s magical ensemble casting abilities and voilà — Murray is on board.

Murray’s character has yet to be revealed —no, we don’t yet know if he’ll be returning as Dr. Peter Venkman or not— but you’ll see him alongside Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon, and Chris Hemsworth when the highly anticipated reboot hits theaters next summer.
