Woman Crush Wednesday: Alicia Vikander Is The Fembot Of Your Dreams

Where to Stream:

Ex Machina

Powered by Reelgood

It’s Wednesday, which means it’s socially acceptable to crush on your favorite lady. This week, we’re head over heels for up-and-comer Alicia Vikander of sci-fi hit Ex Machina and Guy Ritchie’s spy romp The Man From U.N.C.L.E. You’ve seen Vikander before, however, and you’re going to be seeing a lot more of her in the days to come, including some promising Oscar contenders. Click on any of the links below to see where you can stream Vikander’s filmography.

WHO’S THAT GAL?: Alicia Vikander

WHAT’S THE CAUSE FOR WORSHIP: The Swedish actress and dancer has been summer’s unexpected It Girl. Between her roles as inquisitive fembot Ava in Ex Machina and as screen-stealing double agent Gaby in The Man from U.N.C.L.E., the versatile Vikander’s star power is quickly climbing.

WHERE YOU KNOW HER FROM: Summer 2015 isn’t the only time you’ve seen Vikander, who’s starred in last year’s sci-fi ensemble Seventh Son and gritty crime drama Son of a Gun, alongside Ewan McGregor and Brenton Thwaites. She’s also no stranger to period dramas, making appearances in Anna Karenina, A Royal Affair, and Testament of Youth opposite Game of Thrones‘ Kit Harington.

WHERE YOU’LL SEE HER NEXT: Vikander is slated as the lead in period piece, Tulip Fever, about artists living in 17th century Amsterdam and featuring a star-studded (albeit a tad random) ensemble cast of Chistoph Waltz, Jack O’Connell, Judi Dench, Dane DeHaan, Cara Delevingne, and Zack Galifianakis. She’s also tied on to surefire Oscar contender, The Danish Girl, opposite Eddie Redmayne who will star as pioneering trans artist Lili Elbe (and will likely snag another Academy nod for Best Actor). As more details surface about Bradley Cooper-starring chef drama, Burnt and Untitled Matt Damon Bourne Sequel, you’ll see Vikander break out even further into A-List status and, frankly, given her ability to seamless weave in and out of various genres, we’re pretty psyched to see what she’ll do next.
