Jeb Bush Says ‘Supergirl’ Melissa Benoist Is “Pretty Hot”

Political candidates are asked all sorts of difficult questions on the campaign trail, but Republican presidential hopeful Jeb Bush had a very interesting response to a “softball” question during an event in Las Vegas, Nevada this week. Bush was asked who his favorite Marvel superhero was and had quite the racy response.

Apparently Bush caught one of the ubiquitous television ads for CBS’s new DC superhero show Supergirl and was intrigued by its young lead Melissa Benoist. He told the room, “I saw it when I was working out this morning… She looked kinda … she looked pretty hot. I don’t know which channel it’s on, but I’m looking forward to that.”

Bush immediately followed this response up by quipping, “That’ll make news.”

While it’s true that Benoist’s heroine is a beautiful defender of truth, justice, and the American way, Bush did indeed make a massive misstep with his answer — that may not be obvious to the casual comic book fan. Bush was asked who his favorite Marvel superhero was, and Supergirl, as we mentioned, is a property of Marvel’s rival DC. Bush himself admitted that he wasn’t an expert on Marvel, but said, “I like watching the movies. I wish I owned Marvel, as someone that believes in capitalism.”

Jeb Bush might not know which network Supergirl is premiering on, but we do! Supergirl is set to make its highly-anticipated debut this Monday, October 26 at 8:30/7:30 C. You can livestream the premiere with CBS All Access and catch previously-aired episodes the following day on the streaming service.
