5 Things To Watch Before They Expire From HBO Go And HBO Now At The End Of The Week

While HBO Go and HBO Now are adding a slew of new titles for November, there will be some titles that are taken off the services. It’s the tides of the streaming waters: HBO gives, and HBO takes. But don’t fret: just a small sliver of titles are leaving (compared to what’s remaining), and you still have a few days to watch some (if not all!) of them. Here are five top picks, plus the full list of what’s leaving both services.

Dawn of the Dead

Zack Snyder revamps George A. Romero’s original zombie thriller, upping the ante, the gore, and the speed at which the flesh-eating undead attack their victims. The 2004 remake stars Sarah Polley, Ving Rhames, Mekhi Phifer, and Ty Burrell as a group of survivors who hole up in a deserted mall just after the zombie apocalypse. The group must struggle to fend off the vicious mob of zombies outside, but it’s the live humans on the inside that may prove to be the greatest foes. [Stream Dawn of the Dead on HBO Go and HBO Now]

Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life

Terry Jones (pictured above) directs his comedy troupe’s musical sketch bonanza, with each segment focusing on one of life’s most important — and perhaps most existential — milestones, from the miracle of birth, adolescence, middle age, and death. All topics are treated with Monty Python’s typical absurd, and sometimes hilariously disgusting, trademark style. [Stream Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life on HBO Go and HBO Now]

The Truman Show

Jim Carrey ditches his manic performance style for this first attempt at serious acting in Peter Weir’s lighthearted dramedy. Carrey plays Truman Burbank, a kind-hearted, easy-going guy who has no idea that his entire life has been a lie: he is, in fact, the unwitting star of an extremely popular reality show, and everyone in his life is an actor just playing along. When the fourth wall starts to break, the producers and cast scramble to keep Truman from learning the truth. [Stream The Truman Show on HBO Go and HBO Now]

Good Night, and Good Luck

Legendary character actor David Strathairn gets top billing in George Clooney’s ode to the early days of television. Strathairn plays the respected newsman Edward R. Murrow, whose post as the face of CBS News gives him a powerful platform. But his controversial decision to ignore sponsor and corporate pressure and openly criticize Joseph McCarthy’s anti-Communist witch trials nearly tarnished his legacy as a trustworthy news anchor. [Stream Good Night, and Good Luck on HBO Go and HBO Now]

A History of Violence

David Cronenberg’s first collaboration with star Viggo Mortensen is a big-screen adaptation of John Wagner and Vince Locke’s graphic novel. Mortensen plays a beloved small-time businessman who gains national attention for killing two men who attempt to rob his store. But not everyone thinks he’s a hero — an mysterious scarred man (played by Ed Harris) comes to town, suggesting that Mortensen’s seemingly meek Tom Stall is in fact a wanted mobster. It’s a tightly drawn neo-noir with plenty of twists and shocking moments. [Stream A History of Violence on HBO Go and HBO Now]
