If you’ve been ignoring the seemingly relentless subway and streaming ads, it’s time to stop and tune in. Amazon Prime’s Mozart in the Jungle just won the Golden Globe for Best Television Series, Musical Or Comedy and for good reason.

Having just unleashed its second season on December 30, 2015, Mozart in the Jungle is a star-studded musical comedy drama that is the smarter, quirkier, and more compelling Smash alternative that was missing in your life. Developed by Roman Coppola, Jason Schwartzman, and Alex Timbers, the series follows the behind the scenes drama of the New York Symphony, pitting the the well-trained Maestro Thomas against the young, flamboyant, and talented Rodrigo. It’s a show as much about battling egos as the humanity of music. Plus, it’s funny!

This win marks Amazon’s continued winning streak in the comedy field. Before tonight, only Amazon’s Transparent had won the category. In 2015, the other Amazon series secured two Golden Globe nominations and two wins (Best TV series Musical or Comedy and Best Actor) as well as five Emmy nominations. It’s also nominated for three Golden Globes this year, though Mozart in the Jungle has beaten the critical favorite for Best Musical or Comedy. It just goes to show that we can continue to expect big things from Amazon Originals.
