Final Shots: MUBI Makes It To China Before Netflix

It seems like only a matter of time before Netflix conquers the world, but they’ve been beaten to the China market by a much smaller competitor. MUBI, the small streaming service focused on foreign and indie films, launched in the country earlier this week, reports CNBC. Launched on Thursday, MUBI China is a joint venture between the British owned company the Huanxi Media Group and is the first Western streaming service to be made available in the country. Earlier this month, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings said it would “take some time” before Netflix was made available in the country.
