Final Shots: Netflix’s Subscriber Base Surpasses 75 million

Netflix hasn’t come close to reaching a tipping point yet. Even before its recently announced global expansion, the streaming service had already surpassed 75 million subscribers’ worldwide, reports Variety. In a recent letter to investors, CEO Reed Hastings and CFO David Wells announced that the streaming service reached the milestone on January 1. “Our quarter‐end 74.76 million members put us at over 17 million net additions for the year, showing how much the world is embracing Internet TV,” they wrote. The company expects that number to climb even higher in 2016 with 600 hours of original content set to debut between now and the end of the year, compared to last year’s 450.
