Afternoon Delight: ‘The Street Attorney’ Is The Docu-Web Series You Need To See

It’s Thursday. Which means it’s almost Friday. Which means you get to slack off a bit during your lunch hour. Cue: Afternoon Delight: Decider’s own curation of the best of short-form content, including the Internet’s wittiest web series. This week’s pick, The Street Attorney, documents the real-life cases of criminal defense lawyer, Gerard Marrone — New York City native and trusted friend of the Big Apple’s most notorious mobsters.

“Who wouldn’t want to be a gangster? Me? I went the other way. I became a lawyer,” Marrone explains in Episode One’s Goodfellas-inspired voiceover. “I represent the made guys and the bosses. They get locked up, I get them out.” The Street Attorney, produced by Dave Rodriguez and Marrone, blurs the line between comedic web series and mini docu-drama — introducing us to a slew of eccentric New York personalities, some of whom have had more than one run-in with the law. Marrone, who’s dedicated his life to defending the mob, inadvertently asks us to challenge our stance as viewers. Do we stop watching because he’s had criminals acquitted? Or do we enjoy it as a day-in-the-life exploration of one man’s wholly unique New York story? Watch the first episode below and decide for yourself and be sure to check out the rest of the episodes on The Street Attorney‘s YouTube channel.
