People Already Hate The Oscars Thank-You Scroll (And The Night’s Still Young)

It’s Hollywood’s biggest night! The 2016 Academy Awards are airing tonight, February 28, and Decider has got all of your Oscars needs satisfied. You can live stream the 2016 Oscars here, and click here to check out the rest of Decider’s coverage.

It’s the worst part of every Oscar speech. It’s the moment when every winner, flush with the excitement of winning the big prize, stutters quickly through the names of family, friends, agents, co-workers, lawyers, managers, God, and elementary school teachers. But there’s never enough time to get through everyone! Inevitably, all but the night’s biggest stars find themselves cut off by the swooping sounds of the house orchestra.

This year, Oscar producers thought they had solved the problem with the “Thank-You Scroll.” A chyron that would pop up in the midst of the speech and “scroll” through every official thank you. The problem is these “Thank-You Scrolls” and the accompanying “fun presenter trivia” chyrons are already pissing people off. Really. Check out these tweets:

And even though the vote is currently close to split, check out the negative comments on this Nerdist twitter poll about it:

Time will tell if these reactions are just growing pains or if the “Thank-You Scroll” is as one person tweeted, “tacky af.”
