‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Officially Coming To Streaming April 1

This ain’t no early April Fools Joke! Star Wars: The Force Awakens is officially landing in HD on digital streaming platforms April 1, 2016. The Blu-Ray Combo pack and DVD versions will be available a few days later on April 5, so this is definitely one case where it pays to stream!

Lucasfilm made it official with a gorgeous short film that culled together beautiful moments from the film, rapturous quotes from critics, and previews of some incredible behind-the-scenes extras. It turns out that fans who get Star Wars: The Force Awakens will have the chance to also get a feature-length documentary as well as deleted scenes as a bonus. The clip teased that one such cut scene featured Kylo Ren and his First Order Stormtroopers invading the Millennium Falcon.

If that’s not enough for you, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will hit theaters on December 16, 2016. The first ever “anthology” film in the series will follow a band of rebels headed by Felicity Jones and Diego Luna as they embark on a journey to steal the original Death Star plans. Fans will have to wait a wee bit longer for Star Wars: Episode VIII. The film is currently in production, with a slated release date of December 15, 2017.
