Who Is The New Spider-Man? Meet Tom Holland!

The latest trailer for Captain America: Civil War dropped today and promises us thrills, chills, and tons of superhero-on-superhero fight scenes, but the biggest news? It gave us our first peek at the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s version of Spider-Man.

Since 2000, there have been five separate Spider-Man films, but none of those movies will have anything to do with the character Tony Stark is affectionately calling “Underoos.” This new Spidey will still be Peter Parker, but he’ll be a younger version than we’ve ever seen before. That’s because he’s being played by 19-year-old Brit Tom Holland.

Holland got his start as a tween in the West End version of the musical Billy Elliot playing Michael, Billy’s best friend. As time went on, Holland graduated to the lead role and then to the big screen. The tween actor appeared opposite Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts in the stirring drama The Impossible. Since then, he’s appeared opposite Oscar-nominee Saoirse Ronan in the dystopian drama How I Live Now, Oscar winner Mark Rylance in Wolf Hall, and in last winter’s In The Heart of the Sea. You can stream all of these titles before Captain America: Civil War hits theaters on May 6, but yeah, we know, you want to see that awesome trailer again.
