Does Emma Watson Really Get Topless In ‘Regression’? Decider Examines The Evidence

For the past year or so, a certain subset of Emma Watson‘s fan base has been eagerly anticipating the release of her dark sex abuse drama Regression. These people were excited to see what celebrated director Alejandro Amenábar could pull out of the talented young actress, and by that we mean they were all-too-keenly aware of the rumors that Ms. Watson was supposed to get completely naked in one scene.

About halfway through the eerie (and rather terrible) film, Ethan Hawke finds himself attacked in his bed by cult members, injected with a drug, and offered a vision of Ms. Watson’s character naked and on top of him. Soon, though, she turns into an old, cackling woman. It’s a nightmare scene that blurs reality and teases a naked Hermione.

Now, we’ve looked over the footage, and we have to say that we don’t think this is really Emma Watson. We believe that the usually classy and coy young starlet used a body double for the scene and here’s why:

• One, we never, ever, get a clear view of this young actress’s face. The woman who is “presented” to Ethan Hawke’s character in his drugged up sex cult dream is always purposely obscured.
• Two, all the nudity is shot over the shoulder. CLASSIC BODY DOUBLE FRAMING TRICK!
• Three, not to judge women by their body types, but the girl grinding up on Hawke in this vision looks slightly more curvaceous than Watson. Both women have beautiful bodies, but Watson has more of a gamine frame and less of an hourglass figure. Then again, we’ve never seen Watson naked or from that angle…that we know of!

So, yes, we’re betting that Emma Watson used a body double for her infamous “nude” scene in Regression. In fact, it’s possible she wasn’t even on set when the scene was shot! You can’t ever make out her face!

Now, there’s no shame in an actress using a body double, getting completely naked, or never ever getting nude onscreen at all. It’s Watson’s prerogative to do whatever she wants with her body. That said, we’re pretty sure she didn’t take off her clothes in Regression. It’s up to Watson herself to confirm or deny the rumors, but why would she want to? The mystery is kind of more fun…
