Afternoon Delight: Meet ‘The Subway Savior,’ the Hero NYC Deserves

What better way to prepare for the fast-approaching weekend than by indulging in the some of the Internet’s most well-done web content? Take advantage of your lunch break and treat yourself to Afternoon Delight, Decider’s carefully curated picks of the best short-form content available on the world wide web. This week we’re spotlighting “The Subway Savior,” an all-too-real sketch depicting humanity in its most inferior state (NYC subway passengers) from the up and coming hilarious minds at Petal Stone Comedy.

Directed by Adam Centrella and written by Dean Dimitruk, the video follows Dimitruk as the aviator-wearing, mustache-sporting subway savior who writes up a series of commonplace public transportation violations in New York City (AKA the “Wild West”). These offenses range from subway snacking and pole-hogging to manspreading and those ever-dreaded showtime performers (“America’s Most Wanted”). Dimitruk says what we’ve all been thinking, and the palpable discomfort of the commuters around him as he enforces etiquette the way we all wish we could makes it all the more fun to watch.

So what inspired the folks at Petal Stone to create this desperately needed hero? “It was the constant build up of incidents I would witness every single day on the subway,” says Dimitruk. “Someone had to call them out for being assholes, and that someone was me.”

Petal Stone Comedy was created by Centrella, Dimitruk, and Brittany Mignanelli. Check out their first video, “Find-A-Fuckboy“, and subscribe to their YouTube channel to stay tuned for more inevitably hilarious (and totally relatable) content ahead.
