Final Shots: Hulu To Launch Streaming TV Service Featuring Disney, Fox, ESPN

Hulu will reportedly launch its own internet TV service. Similar to Dish Network’s Sling TV, which currently costs subscribers $20 per month, the service will feature select channels like Disney, Fox, ESPN and ABC, but at an estimated $40 per month according to market estimates. Variety just broke the news that NBCUniversal is also in talks to join Hulu’s bundle.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the new service will likely feature both on-demand and live-recording options. It will likely rival cable companies, with networks remaining neutral to the cause, as more and more cord-cutters continue to look towards internet-based models for their live television needs, utilizing platforms like PlayStation Vue, HBO Now and Sling TV. Although the latter service currently has nearly 400,000 subscribers, Hulu’s 9 million customers could easily top that figure in only a short amount of time post launch. As the concept is only in its development stages, a tentative launch date is unknown at this time.
