Final Shots: FX Releases Teaser For Donald Glover’s Upcoming Series ‘Atlanta’

FX has released a dope teaser for its brand new Donald Glover-starring series, Atlanta. The clip annouces the show’s tentative premiere, which will drop sometime this September. Tame Impala’s track “New Person, Same Old Mistakes” from their recent album Currents accompanies the brief clip.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the 10-episode series is both created by and starring Glover. The plot focuses on two cousins, Earn (Glover) and Alfred (Brian Tyree Henry), who but heads as they successfully navigate Atlanta’s booming hip-hop scene. The show also features Lakeith Lee Stanfield who serves as Alfred’s right-hand man Darius, as well as Zazie Beetz as Van, whose ongoing relationship with Earn proves to be a complicated one.

Gillian Anderson has signed on to play Media in Starz’ upcoming adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s acclaimed contemporary fantasy novel, American Gods. Bryan Fuller and Michael Green Serve will serve as showrunners and David Slade will direct the pilot and additional episodes, according to a press release.

HBO has greenlit a brand new hitman comedy series from comedian Bill Hader titled Barry. The new straight-to-series half-hour comedy, which follows an ex-marine turned cheap kill-for-hire, will be co-written and co-executive produced by Silicon Valley’s Alec Berg. [Deadline]

Showtime has ordered a brand new comedy pilot from Jamie Foxx and Californication creator Tom Kapinos. Titled White Famous, the new Lionsgate TV-produced series was written by Kapinos and will star Foxx, who conceptualized the show. It will follow an African-American comedian and his rise to fame. Sad news for eager Game of Thrones fans: The HBO show’s director Jack Bender hinted during a recent interview that there will only be seven episodes next season. When asked if he would be returning for Season 7, Bender stated “I don’t know the answer to that. They’re only doing seven [episodes], and they’ve got their regulars who have done it forever.” [Vanity Fair]

Netflix has released a second official trailer for the upcoming fourth season of its breakthrough original series, Orange Is The New Black. All new episodes of the Jenji Kohan masterpiece will premiere on June 17th.

In anticipation of its upcoming June 7th premiere, Hulu has posted a handful of exclusive clips from the second season of its celebrated original drama series, Casual. The new clips preview everything from Valerie in an upbeat spin class to Alex on yet another awkward date.
