Game of Thrones has never shied away from showing sex and nudity on screen, but now they are fighting back against the internet’s most popular porn destination, PornHub. Uproxx picked up a report from the UK outlet The Sun that says that the show and its parent companies are battling PornHub over misuse of copywritten materials.
Apparently PornHub users have uploaded some of the show’s most steamy nude scenes and the internet porn giant is getting hits off of these clips. An HBO rep said, “HBO is aware of the issue and is in the process of getting material taken down from PornHub.”
There’s a big overlap of Game of Thrones fans and PornHub users. PornHub released an infographic recently detailing how its traffic dipped 4% during the sixth season premiere on April 24, 2016. Game of Thrones related searches then soared a 370% after the episode aired. The company followed this up with some data about which Game of Thrones actresses are the most popular in search. Hint: It’s not just the Dothraki who are swooning over the Khaleesi. Emilia Clarke is by far and away the most popular lady in the cast, followed by Natalie Dormer (Margaery Tyrell) and former German porn actress Sibel Kekilli (Shae).
It looks like HBO is going after just the clips culled from Game of Thrones itself and that show-inspired porn parodies are still fair play. Speaking of which, it’s not too late to get caught up in the latest (and most epic) Game of Thrones porn parody: Storm of Kings XXX.
