They’re more than just brightly-colored office supplies, Post-Its are an important prop for some of your favorite TV shows and movies. They have joined characters together, broken them apart, and even been bathed in. Why, you haven’t had your entire body covered in them before? You don’t know what you’re missing. You might think of them as tiny, adhesive pieces of paper, but they do so much more.

Ok, not really. They are just a place to jot a quick note and fasten it in a location where you’ll see it. And these characters have seen a lot of them. From Bruce Almighty to Sex and the City, Post-Its can be used as a fun prop or an integral plot point. They’ve contained words of encouragement, ominous technological plans, and important clues.

Let’s take a closer look at the importance of those sticky squares in comedies, dramas and even one very silly sketch. They have enough space on them to pour out all your feelings, in as few as 7 words — not that we recommend that! We would also like to take this time to remind you not to steal Post-Its from your office. It could be a fireable offense, even if it is a lie.

Grey's Anatomy Post-Its: for when you only have a minute of free time to get married, and you want to write your entire ceremony on a tiny piece of sticky paper! Pop Culture Post-Its: Romy and Michele's High School Reunion
Romy and Michele's High School Reunion Coming up with the idea to lie about inventing Post-Its is almost more brilliant than the actual Post-Its themselves. Even though it causes a fight between Romy (Mira Sorvino) and Michele (Lisa Kudrow), and certainly does them no favors with the popular girls when the true inventor is named, it's still a lie that is as equally fun and impressive as Lisa Kudrow's monologue about glue.
Pop Culture Post-Its: Sex and the City
Sex and the City The loaded Post-It! How can one tiny poem cause so many emotions? Berger (Ron Livingston) left Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) the seven deadliest words imaginable on a yellow Post-It for her to discover when she woke up in the morning. And at lunch, the ladies dissected it, swapping stories of the harshest breakups ever -- and this is all before breaking up over text was a thing! Sigh. Berger and Carrie would've been great together, they were so similar! Oh, except Carrie never would've broken up with him on a tiny note in the middle of the night. HBO
Pop Culture Post-its: The Office
The Office In season 1 of The Office, Michael (Steve Carrell) pretends to fire Pam (Jenna Fischer) for stealing Post-It notes. She bursts into tears, he bursts into giggles, and hopefully we've all learned that Post-Its are to be taken seriously. NBC

Bruce Almighty If you look closely, under all of those Post-It notes you will find Jim Carrey in Bruce Almighty. Bruce requests all the incoming prayers he must answer to be written on Post-Its, but you can see how well that worked out.
