Meet Queue: Imogen Poots Is More Than ‘Roadies’ Penny Lane

First thing’s first: Imogen Poots has one of the most delightfully British names in Hollywood — which is saying something, when you count there are stars named Benedict Cumberbatch and Tuppence Middleton. And like both Cumberbatch and Middleton, Poots has been paying her dues, quietly delivering spell-binding turns and charming performances in small, intimate films. However, her place in the spotlight might be upon us. Poots is the pretty young gamine at the center of the ad campaigns for Showtime’s new drama Roadies which means she could crossover into Kate Hudson-esque stardom.

If you want the lowdown on Imogen Poots, we’ve compiled a streaming dossier for you. It’s kind of like a “meet cute” in a romantic comedy, but because it’s all streaming, we’re calling it your “meet queue.”

28 Weeks Later (2007)

Imogen Poots made her major film debut in the electrifying follow up to Danny Boyle’s zombie classic 28 Days Later. Poots played Tammy, a teen girl caught up in the middle of truly terrifying apocalyptic situations. She must band together with her younger brother to survive. [Where to Stream 28 Weeks Later]

A Late Quartet (2012)

Technically Imogen Poots’ big break came when she appeared in 28 Weeks Later, but she got her first real chance to shine against some heavy-hitters when she appeared in the musical drama A Late Quartet. Poots played an angsty young violinist who causes trouble for her musician parents and their string quartet. Her parents were played by none other than Catherine Keener and Philip Seymour-Hoffman. Jimi: All Is By My Side (2013)

In 2013, Poots played two real-life rock muses: Jeff Buckley’s crush, Allie, in Letters To Tim Buckley and Linda Keith in Jimi: All Is By My Side (the latter of which you can stream on Netflix). Keith was a notorious ‘60s wild child. She had relationships with both Jimi Hendrix and Keith Richards. She also was reportedly the inspiration behind “Ruby Tuesday.” [Stream Jimi: All Is By My Side on Netflix]

A Long Way Down (2014)

Poots showed off her rare ability to mix both comedy and drama in the pitch black comedy A Long Way Down. Poots plays Jess, a young woman whose plans to kill herself are foiled by three other people’s similar morbid designs. The quartet bands together and makes an odd pact that keeps them all alive…for a little while longer. [Watch A Long Way Down on Netflix]

Roadies (2016)

Cameron Crowe’s new dramedy Roadies delves into the secret drama unfolding behind-the-scenes on big rock tours. The series stars Luke Wilson and Carla Gugino, but all eyes will be on Imogen Poots. She plays Kelly Ann, a music nerd-turned-roadie, whose passion fuels her work. [Watch Roadies on Hulu]
