A League of Their Own

With every new month comes a bunch of great new titles on Netflix, but where there is gain, there is always loss. Get your tissues ready, because Netflix has just announced its list of titles expiring during the month of July, and a few of them are definitely going to sting.

This month, the streaming service will be losing several classics such as A League of Their Own and Notting Hill, comedy favorites like Best in Show and Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, as well as many of the titles in the Star Trek series. Would it help if we reminded you that there are some amazing things being added this month too? It’s not totally bleak out here, but make sure to move these to the top of your list and get to watching before these titles start expiring on July 1.

A League of Their Own (1992)

Sports movies that focus on female characters are few and far between, and lucky for us, this is one of the best. With an all-star cast featuring Tom Hanks, Madonna, and Geena Davis, there’s sure to be crying in baseball when you get way too emotional watching this fictionalized version of the real-life All-American Girls Professional Baseball League.

Best in Show (2000)

This hilarious mockumentary follows a truly surreal band of weirdos who have all entered their pets into a prestigious dog show. The cast features comedy titans like Catherine O’Hara, Eugene Levy, and Jane Lynch, and much of the dialogue was improvised. Need we say more?

Notting Hill (1999)

Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts star in this classic rom-com about a beautiful actress who shakes up the mundane life of an unsuccessful bookstore owner. Come for the sweet story, stay for the sight of ‘90s Hugh Grant in glasses.

Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982)

Widely regarded as the best Star Trek movie, Wrath of Khan puts the Enterprise crew in harm’s way when an old nemesis returns with a frightening new weapon. This title is one of many in the Star Trek series leaving Netflix this month, so make sure to set aside a few hours to spend with Kirk and Spock.

Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby (2006)

Will Ferrell does some of his best work as a NASCAR driver whose talent and loyalty are tested when his title as No. 1 is challenged by a French Formula One driver. Get all jacked up on Mountain Dew and catch this before it expires from Netflix.
