Roseanne Barr Says Louis C.K. Is “About To Get Busted” For Sexual Misconduct

The past few years have been horrifyingly insightful when it comes to how women are treated in comedy. Between the rape allegations and trial launched against Bill Cosby and the rise of female comedians who have pulled no punches when it comes to discussing the industry’s sexism, misogyny in comedy has become a hot button topic. And, according to Roseanne Barr, another comedian needs to be called out for his mistreatment of women — Louis C.K.

In a recent interview with The Daily Beast, Barr addressed the Cosby scandal, explaining how rampant sexism is depressingly nothing new to the comedy world. Barr has been a staple in comedy for over 30 years and started her career in the male-dominated world of comedy clubs as well as on the late night circuit. The performer revealed that she knew several alleged Cosby victims who were not among the nearly 60 women who have come forward so far. “No, they didn’t ever come forward,” Barr said. “I understand why they don’t. But I’ve known for a long, long time. Everyone knows.”

However, the biggest revelation from the interview was Barr’s thoughts about Louis C.K. The comedian said another high-profile male comedian is “about to get busted” for his treatment of women. According to the interview, Barr hesitated before giving away that name:

It’s Louis C.K., locking the door and masturbating in front of women comics and writers. I can’t tell you — I’ve heard so many stories. Not just him, but a lot of them. And it’s just par for the course. It’s just shit women have to put up with.

So far, Louis C.K. has yet to respond to the allegations. In a follow up with The Daily Beast, Barr also made it clear that these allegations have been publicly discussed for years and that she has no firsthand knowledge of Louis C.K.’s alleged misconduct. These accusations from Barr are nothing new, but calling out Louis C.K. in the same conversation as discussing the Cosby scandal adds a disturbing element to the conversation. Barr has called Louis C.K.’s reputation into question on Twitter at least twice:

Also, at least one other high-profile female comedian has likely called Louis C.K.’s treatment of women into question. On her podcast, Jen Kirkman not-so-subtly called out a famous comic for being “Cosby level” as well as a “known perv.” Most people assumed Kirkman was referring to Louis C.K. Kirkman pulled the episode soon after. And let’s not forget the infamous Gawker blind item about the “Beloved Comedian Who Likes to Force Female Comics to Watch Him Jerk Off”, either.

The big “r-word” hasn’t officially been used in conjunction with Louis C.K., and, to date, most of these allegations come from third party sources who are unwilling to give precise names or make clear accusations. But you know what they say — where there’s smoke there’s fire, and there seems to be a lot of questionable smoke surrounding the beloved comedian. It’s also worth noting that the Cosby scandal came to light in a similar manner. There was a lot of speculation surrounding Bill Cosby’s treatment of women, but the extent and reality of these claims wasn’t brought into light until Hannibal Buress’ notorious set went viral. No matter what you believe, this doesn’t look good for Louis C.K. or the inclusiveness of comedy.
