Final Shots: Hulu To Offer Free Fan Screenings On ‘Summer Road Trip’

Hulu has announced a 2016 ‘Summer Road Trip’ which will feature free fan events across multiple U.S. cities. Starting on July 9 in San Francisco, viewers will be able to attend screenings of Hulu-streamed classic films like Bullitt (1968) and TV shows like Seinfeld and Curious George, among others.

According to a press release, admission to each event is on a first come, first served basis. Select dates will feature Hulu giveaways, snacks and food trucks, interactive social exhibits, and special celebrity guest cameos. The platform’s summer tour will stop in eight total cities, including New York (July 28) and Los Angeles (August 13). Aside for the aforementioned, other screenings include Saved By The Bell, Top Gun, Dawson’s Creek and Wayne’s World.

As part of a brand new SVOD deal with TruTV, Hulu has nabbed all four seasons of Billy on the Street. All 42 episodes of the Billy Eichner variety show will be available via the platform as of July 10, with the fifth season to stream following its broadcast finale. [Deadline]

Netflix has tapped director Ritesh Batra (The Lunchbox) for the platform’s planned Robert Redford and Jane Fonda adaptation of Our Souls At Night. Based on the Kent Haruf novel of the same name, the scripted original film is one of many upcoming star-driven features the popular streaming platform has signed on for. [Deadline]

This week, a U.S. Federal court determined that sharing your Netflix login information could be considered a federal crime. Three judges from the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit issued a ruling on the ongoing United States v. Nosal case, establishing that general password sharing is illegal and now prohibited. [Fusion]
