Stephen Colbert let his presence be known in Cleveland before the festivities had even truly kicked off. The Republican National Convention is being held there this week, and Colbert has brought The Late Show to town to capture all the…fun?
A video appeared online this weekend, taken from someone in the crowd, of Colbert pre-taping a “Hungry for Power Games” segment for his show from inside the convention. He’s seen declaring, “I know I’m not supposed to be up here, but let’s be honest, neither is Donald Trump” before he is escorted off the stage. But not really — it was all part of the comedy segment. For now.
Colbert has been seen in different costumes and locations around town already, so he’ll be more than prepared with segments for this week’s shows.
And this is only the beginning. Colbert will be responsible for countless Trump jokes as the week goes on, and that number will only multiply when he is joined by his former boss, Jon Stewart. Who knows, maybe the pair will actually be escorted off stage! Either way, it will be entertaining to watch this week. Well, except for Donald Trump and his VP pick, Mike Pence. They might not find it quite so humorous.
