How To Live Stream ‘Double Dare Live’ At Comic-Con

Stop the presses! The game show that defined your childhood is coming back … today. Nickelodeon’s Double Dare is returning to our lives, and this Friday at San Diego Comic-Con marks its official return. What’s that you’re screaming? You’re not at Comic-Con this year? Not to worry, you don’t have to miss any of the nostalgia-tinged antics. Consider this your guide to live streaming this must-watch ‘90s-inspired event.

In honor of Double Dare’s upcoming 30th anniversary, The Splat, Nickelodeon’s streaming answer to all of those classic ‘90s kids shows you still miss, is relaunching the game show today. The network has even reinstated the show’s original host, Marc Summers, who is returning for the first time in 16 years. The official 30 year anniversary for Nick’s longest running game show happens on October 6, but the network couldn’t pass up the opportunity to devote one night of San Diego’s Comic-Con to fun and slime. Brew up a batch of your own slime (here’s the recipe), call up your friends, and get ready to revisit your childhood.

WHAT IS DOUBLE DARE?

We promise we won’t tell anyone you asked. Double Dare (also known as Super Sloppy Double Dare) was a children’s game show that ran on Nickelodeon from 1986 to 1993, but the series was also relaunched for two seasons in 2000. The game pitted two teams against each other — The Red Team and The Blue Team. This being the ‘80s and ‘90s, those team rivalries got pretty intense. Each team (composed of two kids) had to compete in a series of trivia rounds, but there was a catch. If a team didn’t know the answer to a question, they dare their opponents to answer the question instead. Win and you won double the money. Lose and you had to compete in a physical challenge. That’s where the slime came in.

OK I’M ON BOARD. WHEN DOES THE LIVE STREAM OF DOUBLE DARE START?

Glad to have you on our side (cheer for Team Blue). The event will be live-streamed on The Splat’s Facebook page starting at 9:30 p.m. PT, which is 12:30 a.m. ET. It’s late we know. But it’ll definitely be worth it.

According to the official Nickelodeon press release, we’ll be treated to see contestants participate in a variety of classic physical challenges including the Wringer, Down the Hatch, the Human Hamster Wheel and the Double Dare Nose from that legendary obstacle course.

IS THIS MY ONLY CHANCE TO WATCH DOUBLE DARE?

No way, Jose. The Splat will be keeping the celebration going by launching a Double Dare week from Monday, July 25 on. Also hosted by Summers, this special event will premiere on TeenNick at 10 p.m. ET. This new continuation will feature new games, clips from the most memorable moments of the original show, and episodes from the original Double Dare as well as its spinoffs, Family Double Dare and Double Dare 2000 (which is currently not streaming). You better start mixing your slime now. You’re going to need a lot.
