Welcome back to Decider’s Top 100 Best Binge-Watches of All Time! Yesterday we kicked things off with #100-81 and today we’re counting down #80-61.
To catch you up, Team Decider went through hundreds of our favorite shows to identify the 100 titles that make for the best binge-watches. Here’s the criteria we used to determine the list:
- “Binge-ability”: A word we made up to describe theintangible ability that certain shows have to hook us in and keep us watching for hour after hour, until whole days pass us by.
- Pop Cultural Relevance: How important was the show to the rise of binge-watching and how important was binge-watching for building its audience?
- Quality of the Program: Point blank: How good is this show?
- Our Personal Favorites: Yes, we admit that this list has a fair amount of bias. Everyone on the team wiggled something on the list that they are passionate about and believe that everyone in the mainstream should watch.

'Arrow'
Original Network: The CW
Years on Air: (2012 – Present)
Number of Seasons: 4
Time To Binge: 2 days, 21 hours
Arrow might look like a superhero show tailor-made for boys, but some of its most ardent fans – and binge-watchers — are female fans in love with Felicity Smoak (and happy to see Steven Amell’s abs).
'Scandal'
Original Network: ABC
Years on Air: (2012 – Present)
Number of Seasons: 5
Time To Binge: 2 days, 16 hours, 30 minutes
This devilishly delicious nighttime soap makes for the perfect escape from the day-to-day stress in your life. It also has more twists and turns than a rollercoaster.
'Happy Valley'
![14-happy-valley](https://cdn.statically.io/img/decider.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/14-happy-valley.png?w=645)
Original Network: Netflix
Years on Air: (2014 – Present)
Number of Seasons: 2
Time To Binge: 12 hours
In a TV climate filled with compelling British crime dramas, it’s hard to pick a favorite, but our vote goes to this addicting feminist masterpiece. Starring Sarah Lancashire and Siobhan Finneran, the two season series follows Catherine Cawood, a police sergeant who is still coming to terms with her daughter’s suicide. The series has all the dark elements you would expect from a crime drama — kidnappings, plots about sexual abuse, and of course murder — but what makes this show remarkable is the emotional weight it assigns to these dark topics. Happy Valley abandons the crime-of-the-week format so popular with most stateside dramas to really explore the emotional weight of every crime committed.
But heads up: This is not an easy binge. The series will leave you feeling uncomfortable and painfully sympathetic toward Catherine. However, if there’s one badass cop we’d want to have in our court, she’s it. — Kayla Cobb
'How I Met Your Mother'
Original Network: CBS
Years on Air: (2005- 2014)
Number of Seasons: 9
Time To Binge: 3 days, 4 hours, 16 minutes
Not all sitcoms stand up to the scrutiny of a binge-watch, but How I Met Your Mother‘s inane season — wait for it — long gags actually make more sense when binged.
'Star Trek'
Original Network: NBC
Years on Air: (1966 – 1969)
Number of Seasons: 3
Time To Binge: 2 days, 17 hours, 50 minutes
The Final Frontier was one of the first truly spectacular non-stop adventures. The good news is once you’ve burned through the original Star Trek series, you’ve got four more to turn to.
'Big Love'
Original Network: HBO
Years on Air: (2006 – 2011)
Number of Seasons: 5
Time To Binge: 2 days, 7 hours
Big Love took us inside the world of a polygamist family and humanized each person’s struggle to balance their need for love with their need for understanding and salvation.
'American Horror Story'
![ahs-freak-show-final-shots](https://cdn.statically.io/img/decider.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/ahs-freak-show-final-shots1.png?w=645)
Original Network: FX
Years on Air: (2011 – Present)
Number of Seasons: 5
Time To Binge: 2 days, 5 hours, 20 minutes
Ryan Murphy’s batshit psycho anthology series American Horror Story is one of the most frustrating shows in recent memory, ping-ponging back and forth between moments of genuine terror and craptastic camp (often in the same episode). That said, the highs of this show — particularly Season 1’s “Murder House” storyline and Season 2’s Asylum plot — more than make up for the lows (ugh, can we all agree to wipe away the memory of the back half of Freak Show episodes forever?). Jessica Lange has picked up two well-deserved Emmys (among four nominations) for her work on the show, and overall, the series has been nominated for a grand total of 78 Emmys (!) over its five seasons, making it one of the most-honored series of the new millennium, and one of the best binges, too. Anthologies make for particularly good bingewatches, mainly because each storyline wraps up nicely over the course of a dozen or so hours (which, for our money, is the perfect amount of TV to watch during the course of a single weekend). — Mark Graham
'Deadwood'
Original Network: HBO
Years on Air: (2004 – 2006)
Number of Seasons: 3
Time To Binge: 1 day, 12 hours
This pitch black look at the Old West was as elegiac as it was profane. It’s also a meaty, mighty good watch.
'Curb Your Enthusiasm'
Original Network: HBO
Years on Air: (2000 – Present)
Number of Seasons: 8
Time To Binge: 1 day, 16 hours
Take a trip through the mind of Larry David with this modern classic that never stops delivering the awkward punchlines.
'The Good Wife'
Original Network: CBS
Years on Air: (2009 – 2006)
Number of Seasons: 7
Time To Binge: 4 days, 15 hours, 48 minutes
Though it might have seemed like your typical tired law procedural on the surface, The Good Wife was a game-changing drama that brought the sophistication of long season arcs to an old school storytelling style.
'Power'
![power-lead](https://cdn.statically.io/img/decider.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/power-lead1.png?w=645)
Original Network: STARZ
Years on Air: (2014 – Present)
Number of Seasons: 3
Time To Binge: 1 day, 4 hours
The second you press play on Power, you hand over your very own power to turn away from this show. The Starz drama about a fancy nightclub owner who is secretly running one of New York City’s largest drug rings will captivate you with every episode. It’s thrilling and sexy and manages to keep you on your toes while you’re situated comfortably on your couch. The acting is fantastic, and the music is great, which might have something to do with 50 Cent both acting in and executive producing the show. But this show is truly about the relationships — you won’t know which corner of the love triangle(s) you enjoy more, and you’ll be guessing along with the characters the entire time trying to figure out who really holds all, or any, of the power. — Lea Palmieri
'Veronica Mars'
Original Network: The CW
Years on Air: (2004 – 2007)
Number of Seasons: 3
Time To Binge: 4 days, 19 hours, 11 minutes
“WHO KILLED LILLY KANE?” Veronica Mars is the murder mystery that sparks this crackerjack drama and helped pave the way for a new kind of thriller focused as much on the community as on the crime.
'One Tree Hill'
Original Network: The WB/CW
Years on Air: (2003 – 2012)
Number of Seasons: 9
Time To Binge: 5 days, 10 hours, 54 minutes
One Tree Hill brought a burst of earnest energy to the teen soap genre — not to mention a clever time jump.
'The Great British Baking Show'
Original Network: BBC One
Years on Air: (2010 – Present)
Number of Seasons: 6
Time To Binge: 3 days, 2 hours
This sweet British import is a cozy window into a world of decadent desserts, beautiful breads, and charming British characters.
'Hannibal'
![hannibal-chem](https://cdn.statically.io/img/decider.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/hannibal-chem.png?w=645)
Original Network: NBC
Years on Air: (2013 – 2015)
Number of Seasons: 3
Time To Binge: 1 day, 4 hours, 36 minutes
Grotesque or gorgeous? Bryan Fuller’s marvelously macabre Hannibal could be called either. This plush prequel to Silence of the Lambs and Red Dragon tried to explain what the hell happened between troubled, genius detective Will Graham and the most seductive serial killer in pop culture, Hannibal Lecter. The show started off as a strict homage to the source material, but then remixed it until it morphed into a fever dream of murder tableaus, gender-bent casting, and homoerotic splendor. The show took the psychological thriller and made its audience’s reaction a Rorschach test for their own character. — Meghan O’Keefe
'Damages'
![Glenn Close, Rose Byrne, Damages](https://cdn.statically.io/img/decider.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/glenn-close-rose-byrne-damages.png?w=645)
Original Network: FX
Years on Air: (2007 – 2012)
Number of Seasons: 5
Time To Binge: 2 days, 11 hours
Whose bloody hands are those in the opening credits? What did those hands do? The tantalizing questions laid out at the very beginning of Damages‘ first episode are the most perfect springboard for a binge. The best binge-watches are the shows where you don’t even realize you’ve passed into the next episode, so eager are you to keep the story going. Each season focuses on a different case (and usually a different ancillary murder), but the twin pillars at the center are Glenn Close and Rose Byrne, frenemy lawyers of first order. It manages to be even better as a binge-watch on Netflix than it was in its original incarnation, as its final two seasons were broadcast off on DirecTV where much of its audience couldn’t get their hands on it. — Joe Reid
'Seinfeld'
Original Network: NBC
Years on Air: (1989 – 1998)
Number of Seasons: 9
Time To Binge: 2 days, 18 hours
The show about nothing is still one of the most perversely comforting shows to binge-watch. Seinfeld also makes the list because of the landmark deal Hulu made to secure its streaming rights and revamp its corporate image.
'Grey's Anatomy'
Original Network: ABC
Years on Air: (2005 – Present)
Number of Seasons: 5
Time To Binge: 8 days, 0 hours, 4 minutes
Shonda Rhimes’s first big deal soap, Grey’s Anatomy, is also one of the most engrossing binge-watches ever. Watch the cast evolve over the years and dare yourself not to cry.
'Gossip Girl'
Original Network: The CW
Years on Air: (2007 – 2012)
Number of Seasons: 6
Time To Binge: 3 days, 12 hours, 42 minutes
Gossip Girl got our attention with its wanton teen sexcapades, but it held our interest with its heartwrenching romances. You know you love it, xoxo.
