The Video of Canadian Politician Rob Ford Smoking Crack Cocaine Has Been Released

Stop everything. You can now watch the video that launched the biggest one of the biggest political scandals in Canadian history. The Toronto Star has just published the notorious video of Canadian politician Rob Ford smoking crack.

But first, some background. In May of 2013, Ford was the mayor of Toronto, Canada’s largest city. When Gawker broke the news that someone was attempting to sell a video that featured Rob Ford smoking crack cocaine, Ford said he couldn’t comment on a video “that I have never seen or does not exist.” Fast forward to two years later when the video was played in open court during the preliminary trial of Alexander “Sandro” Lisi. Lisi was Ford’s friend and former driver and was being charged for allegedly trying to extort a gang member in an attempt to get a hold of this headline-making, drug-fueled clip. Today, the charge against Lisi was dropped. You can read more about the trial here.

Since the charge was dropped today, the publication ban on the video, which originally prevented the video from being published or allowing reporters to mention that the video had been played in court, has been lifted. Ford passed away in March of this year after an 18-month battle with cancer.
