The Top 100 Films Of The 2000s (According To Team Decider)

On Monday night, the BBC released their list of the 100 Best Movies of the 21st Century. They polled 177 critics around the globe to determine their rankings, which saw David Lynch’s 2001 film Mulholland Drive come in atop the list. There’s no denying that their poll contains a multitude of high quality films, but we here at Decider couldn’t help but feel like their list was a little, erm, pretentious. Plus, no one asked us for OUR opinion. So we made our own!

Yesterday, Team Decider put our heads together to come up with a list of our favorite films of the 2000s. The twelve people who were polled range in age from 20 to 43, and skew slightly more female to male. (You can see everyone’s individual ballots below.)

Our #1? Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind edged out Almost Famous for the crown of Best Movie of the 2000s; those films were #6 and #79, respectively, on the BBC list. You’ll see right away that our list includes a LOT more comedies than the BBC’s —shout out to Mean Girls!— as well as a number films that have earned their place as classics for a new generation but that older critics tend to turn their noses up at. A prime example is our #5 movie, Little Miss Sunshine, a film that didn’t even make the BBC’s Top 100.
