Decider After Dark

Natasha Leggero’s ‘Tubbin’ With Tash’ Is The Hot Tub Romp You Need To Watch Now

There are a lot of great places you can conduct an interview — an office, living room, or even a park come to mind. However, there’s only one interview venue that matches Natasha Leggero’s delightfully odd brand of aristocratic potty mouth comedy — a hot tub. That’s where Leggero’s webseries takes place, and the series as a whole is a refreshing and surprisingly sexual addition to alternative comedy.

Tubbin’ with Tash follows comedian Natasha Leggero, best known for her stand-up and role as co-creator and star of Comedy Central’s Another Period, as she interviews her various comedian friends in a hot tub. Her note cards are laminated, her preparation is borderline non-existent, and the result is hilarious. Tubbin’ with Tash is like a more glamorous and Leggero-centric version of Zach Galifianakis’ Between Two Ferns. The short webseries delights in awkward pauses, doing the worst things imaginable in a hot tub (including dropping drinks and pooping), and intentionally being the worst interviewing platform around. Most questions revolve around Leggero, her sexual preferences, and her place in the comedy spotlight. It’s an egotistical experiment in comedy that completely aligns with Leggero’s onstage persona.

However, what makes this series worth watching are its guests. First and foremost, Leggero is assisted episode to episode by her servant and (probably) sex slave Pig Bottom, played by her real-life husband Moshe Kasher. Heads up, if you press play, you will be seeing several shots of Kasher’s package clad in various colorful Speedos. Pig Bottom aside, each episode features at least one famous friend, from Sarah Silverman and Tig Notaro to Reggie Watts and Fred Armisen. It’s almost as if the series goes out of its way to ensure each interview is awkward for a different reason. Chelsea Handler gets pissed at both Leggero and Pig Bottom for continuously spilling her drinks. Kumail Nanjiani becomes fed up with Leggero’s intentional racism. Tig Notaro decides to wear a suit to her hot tub interview. Then there are Leggero’s sex focused questions that are never adequately answered but serve to make everyone slightly uncomfortable. All of it is weird, and all of it confidently walks that unfunnily hilarious line that good alternative lives in.

If you’re looking for a companion as you chill in your tiny outdoor hot tub, crack open a beer and check out Tubbin’ with Tash. It’s a short and brilliantly stupid series that’s sure to brighten your afternoon.
